The City of Yarra has a proud history of environmental action and leadership. The Council takes their mandate for environmental leadership from a passionate and engaged community who demand strong action to meet our urban sustainability challenges. Mayor: The Hon George Gear JP

The City of Melville is a member of the Global Covenant of Mayors sharing a long-term vision for combating climate change and transitioning to a low-emission and resilient society. Top focus areas for emissions reduction are electricity, on-road transport, solid waste and waste water. The City aims to reduce emissions by 48% from internal operations by 2025, while extending the targets on emissions reduction to the whole City.

Rotorua Lakes Council is working toward a post-carbon economy through greater energy efficiency and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, with economic growth integrated responsibly with social and environmental values. The ACT Government is committed to achieving carbon neutrality of its own operations by 2020 and net zero emissions by 2050. The Government is demonstrating leadership in reducing greenhouse gas emissions across a range of climate strategies, such as a green vehicles stamp duty scheme to provide incentives for uptake in low emissions vehicles. This and other actions are encompassed by the AP2 Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan 2012, and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy 2016.

The City of Mandurah has been committed to action on climate change for almost 20 years and is involved in a host initiatives to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. As a coastal city, climate adaptation measures are a key priority, including protection of the coast, waterways and wetlands. Council's Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2016-2021 sets out a comprehensive vision for a healthy environment that supports their community, and aligns their local commitments with global action on climate through the Global Covenant of Mayors.
